The Worshipers
Mosques, as spaces of worship, create a division between the internal and external world, focusing on the spiritual journey within. The tradition of gender-separated prayer areas in Islam, influenced by religious interpretations and modesty principles, aims to minimize distractions and enhance prayer focus. However, this practice is viewed through various feminist lenses; some see it as reinforcing gender inequality. “The Worshipers” project seeks to highlight and challenge these patriarchal norms, advocating for gender equality in religious spaces and broader society.

TAJIR
“Tajir” a project from Iran, focuses on the thick curtains in mosques that separate men and women, intended to shield women from men’s view. The project explores the curiosity and communication that arise from this physical barrier.
